My Minds Eye - Tangorine Collection

Don't all die of a heart attack, I know, I know. I have been MAJORLY slack. I will admit I have had a bit of a drought, complete lack of inspiration. But thank goodness for this awesome paper range I was given for my Mad about Scrappin Design Team Kit

It came in perfect time for Halloween and had the perfect gorgeous orange, that complimented the pumpkin, Jordan had pested me to buy a pumpkin and carve it out. I was a little hesitant, we did buy carving tools but I ended up just using my knife to cut it out. It certainly entertained the boys for a few hours. I so loved feeling like I had a photo opportunity, this photo is just so cute of my 2 boys.

I loved having a play with the different colours and sizes of flowers that Leanne has in her store. She has the perfect colours to match this beautiful paper range. My Minds Eye has certainly out did themselves with this range. As you can see it is perfect for boys or girls. I am just so excited that there is finally a pretty range out there that can be used for boys. Well I hope it has been worth the wait to see these layouts.

Purple Pumpkin Sketch layout.

My Purple Pumpkin sketch layout.

I am so happy this weekend I was able to go to one of my best friends place to scrap. Love having a girl weekend away to do some scrapping, and have girl time. We have so much fun and I love being inspired by my friends Sam's layouts.. So we decided to get loads of sketches done. So here is my Purple Pumpkin sketch layout. I have done some close ups

Here is my Purple Pumpkin item on my layout. Love the buttons of Purple Pumpkin.
Here is my overall layout. Love this cute photo, I have titled the layout with 'Partners In Crime', which Jordan and Cody are definitely are that. poor Jordy some times have a bit of a shadow, especially when they are playing. But overall they love each other dearly and love playing with each other.

Wow, my boy turned 9

Well I can't believe that Jordan has turned 9, gosh it is all a bit scary, next year I will have 2 boys that have double didgit numbers. Erkkkkkk!!!! (making me feel a little old here) Well Jordan decided he wanted to celebrate his birthday going to bowling and laser skirmish.

Jordan loves guitars so he decided this year that he wanted a guitar cake, so me being the advantourous cake maker that I am made the guitar. I actually really enjoyed making it, we did have a slight disaster, the cake tins that I used were a little to big so the 2 cakes I made were really flat, so I ended up making a smaller guitar then planned (which actually worked out perfectly in catering purposes) and doubling the cake, I then decided to put caramel in between the cake layers. YUM!!!!
Jordan has a really sweet group of friends, he is not the kid that has a million friends, but the friends that he does have a just so sweet, and the nicest of kids. I just adore them, and love to have them over any time.
In our family we have a bit of a family tradition that we make the kids there most favourite thing for breakfast. Jordan is going through a bit of a faze at the moment that he loves sausage sandwhiches. So Jordy's Dad got creative and made an extra long sausage and bread and made that for him in the morning. I just love this photo. I can't wait to scrap it.
Happy Birthday to my sweet chatterbox boy. Love you so much. xxxx

Crazy, fun and laughter layout

I had so much fun doing this layout, it is a bit different to what I would usually do, but I am getting right into spritz so love having a lplay with them.

I love how bright these papers are, but I loved how I was able to also add bits from all different companies, I have used Lime Tree Creations doiley. At first when I got the doiley in my order I was thinking what am I going to do with this, it was so much bigger then what I had thought. But it was just perfect for this layout. I also used purple pumpkins embellishments. It is probably one of my favourite layouts at the moment. Fun and funky, and I just adore those 2 little faces staring out of the picture. xxxx

Dedicated to Bella,

This layout is done in memory of sweet Bella. My friend Jennie asked a few of her friends to scrap a layout in memory of Bella for her second birthday. I love this layout and how it turned out. I wanted it to be simple, and to be all about the photo, all about Bella. I jumped on Jennie's facebook page and took one of the photos that she had in her albums.
I really hope Jennie loved this layout that I did for her. I just wanted it to be really special for Jennie, as a bereaved mother things like this mean so very much. You can never have enough momentos to remember your baby that you no longer can hold in your arms.

Happy Second Birthday Bella, I hope you had a beautiful birthday in heaven, surrounded by angels. Jennie you are amazing and so very strong, Bella would be so proud of you. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your life.

April's Cybercrop Layouts

Well the Cybercrop for the scraplounge certainly came around quick this month. I never realised but there was suppose to be an Easter theme. Opps. I have done 1 layout with the Easter theme, but the rest are done as general layouts. Here is my first layout using the beautiful Kaisercraft paper range Madame Boutique Collection. I have had this paper in my scrapping bag for awhile now but it was just so inspiring when I dragged it out. Loved how the papers worked on my layouts.

The Scraplounge challenge was to use a different shape base other then the standare 12x12, to use a edge punch and to make handmade embellishments. I made my own flowers and bunting. Just love how this layout came together. I also love the photo of my mum and my eldest son Donovan. I have scrapped with black and white photos for ages, so I really loved playing with that on my layout, I also think black and white looks so nice on this paper.

This is the sketch designed by Storm on the Scraplounge. I loved doing my flowers and I also used a stamp for my leaves.

This is my Easter layout, this is of Cody eating his chocolate Easter Bunny. I think that is all he did that day was eat chocolate, maybe that is why he was a little out of control on that day. LOL

This is my challenge for the scraplounge Cybercrop. It was to use yellow on your layout, use a mini photo, and to use paint somewhere on your layout. I decided to go for a bit of a different look. I just used some scrap paper that I had to do this layout. I also used some stuff out of the Mad about Scrappin challenge pack, it was the non slip mat, I used it as a type of stamp to give my background paper a bit of texture. I love that pack, and I have used so many elements out of it on layouts.

I also loved using bubble wrap on this layout.

And of course the sketch was done by the lovely Emma, from Page Drafts I have to say, this site is now my new favourite for sketches. I just love the variety of the sketches available. YOu should definitely go and check the site out. This is the sketch for the above layout for April done for Mad about Scrappin

April at the Scraplounge

Well I have been busy gearing up for the month of April at the scraplounge. The technique this month was to have white, black plus one colour. Which I chose as red. We also had embellishments donated by the wonderful Nic Create We also had to have women in our lives, so I chose my beautiful niece who had come up and visited. So I took that opportunity to take heaps of photos. It's nice to have a girl to scrap.

We also had a sketch challenge from the wonderful Page Drafts I love Emma's sketches, I find them so inspiring, and certainly makes me think out of my comfort zone.

Here is my layout for the sketch. I loved doing this layout, I thought the photos of my boys worked perfectly with the papers. I had so much fun.

Mad about Scrappin texture pack

I was so excited when Leanne told me I was getting the Mad about Scrappin Texture pack to have a play with and see what I could come up with. I had a great play, in the pack included sand paper, bottle lid, bubble wrap, gutter guard, a little sponge, and some other bits and bobs. I loved playing and being challenge by all the bits in the pack. Go to the Mad about Scrappin facebook page for flog it friday and you purchase a pack there. Here are some of my layouts that I did

Here is a close up of my handmade embellishmetns. I love doing these lollipop flowers when I don't have the right colour embellishments. For those of you who don't know how to make them, you just cut paper into different size circles, scrunch them up, ink the edges, flatten them out and then glue them in a stack. Place a button in the middle and you have your lollipop flower

I loved this phot of Jordan. We were at a friends, and there daughter who is the same age as Jordan had a pink wig, so him being the clown he is put it on. I thought he actually looked quite cute considering he is a boy. The pink kind of suits him. LOL (don't tell him I said that)

Loved using all these things, I had so much fun, and made me think outside the square for my layouts. Loved the bright colours, but I think I have exhausted my stash of girl photos. LOL better have some friends over and take some photos. MMmm or invite my niece up so I can take photos of her.

Mad about Scrappin Design Team

Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!! I am just so excited to announce that I am now a Design Team member of the wonderful Mad about Scrappin you can also find Mad about Scrappin on Facebook. I love Mad's embellisments bits and pieces at the moment, they even have an awesome texture pack, which is for this months challenge. You have to use this pack on your layouts. It came with some amazing items, I think I will have to take a photo of it and show you rather then try and tell you. I just wanted to tell you all the good news. I am just so excited.

Purple Pumpkin Sketch Challenge

I have done the Purple Pumpkin sketch for this month, geez am I on a roll or what???
I have used a template and used spritz on the backing paper and then did my layout over it. Love the shade it has given the pink paper. I loved the Purple Pumpkin embellishments which I thought were very fitting for this layout. Loved this sketch, simple but effective. It was also so nice to get to scrap my niece, and use girly type papers.

Limited Edition Layout

Now that my eldest son is getting that little bit older, I find it hard to get papers that really suit the colours that he tends to wear. So I love this paper, I also used a template and used spritz's to add a bit of dimension on the backing paper. I also love this layout as I have used my scraps to do it, which love using every bit of a range.

Love this photo of my son. We went to Perth, and I decided to get photo happy at the Park. I hadn't taken recent photos because I felt like alot of the photos I was taking were posed just so I had some new photos to scrap (you can tell I am addicted) so I was so excited to have a reason to take photos and more 'natural' photos.

Come and join me in a little Scrapping

Well as you may have noticed with my links down the side, I lost my son Harrison only after 28 hours of giving birth to him. He sadly lost his fight for life to a condition called Congenital Diapghragmatic Hernia. In his memory I have now started up a not for profit organistion, I have a couple of passions that I am working on. One is we scrapbook 6x6 layouts and donate them in a beautiful album to families who tragically lose a baby. Another one of my passions is that we are launching our practical support for families who have a high risk Pregnancy or have been diagnosed with a cogenital abnormality in pregnancy. So as a fundraiser we do a scrapbooking day, people can come along and scrap and have a great time together, by doing this you help us raise much needed funds for us to continue the work that we do and have planned for the future. If you are interested in coming please email me on melanie@harrisonslittlewings.org.au The cost is $25, it is being held at City Church, the corner of Kingston Rd and Queens Rd Kingston. We start at 9am and go to 5pm, lunch is included. All tickets must be purchased before the big day which is the 21st of April.

I really believe us women should ban together with this cause, it sadens me so much that Baby loss is such a taboo subject and nobody wants to talk about it and if it is brought up in a conversation it is very few people want to continue that conversation. Help us to ban together to smash this taboo.

Sent with Love Layout

I really love this paper range, I have gotten soooooo many layouts out of it, I decided I wanted to use my scraps and use every little bit of the paper. I am usually not a minimilist scrapper but really admire scrappers that are good at it and can pull it off. I decided to venture and use the spritz. LOOOOOOOOVE them. I love that you can dress cardstock up so much and make a blank space look flattering.

I really love the photo, it is of my niece and my 2 sons Jordan and Cody. I titled this layout Sent with Love as my niece was visiting, so I felt like she was sent up to give us some love. I had so much fun with her. I love my boys, but it was so nice to have a girl in the house and talk about girly things.

Ohhh love this challenge......

Well I have had an awesome weekend, what have I been doing you ask?????? Well I have been SCRAPPIMG of course, with one of my best friends, Sam. Love scrapping with her, we have a girl weekend where we have no children and it is all about us eating lots of naughty stuff and scrapping away, and having loads of laughs. Just before I went Mad about Scrappin released there monthly challenge which was to use

  • Kraft paper
  • Raw chipboard
  • 2 x pattern papers
  • Book paper
I so loved this challenge, how different is that. So why I was away this is the layout that I came up with using that challenge.

My eldest son has a reading addiction and reads sooooooooooooooooooooooo many books. I can't keep up with it. Him and I got in and did a bit of a spring clean in his room not long after Christmas and I thought it would be a great idea to take a photo of his book case with his favourtie books. All I can say thank goodness for the Library or I would be broke. Though it is one thing I do love about him. Can you believe it, it is something the teachers actually complain about Donovan is that he reads to much. Lol. (I think I must be doing ok if that is what he is getting in trouble about) Loved using lots of different things on the page. I find it sometimes hard to use raw chipboard, I think you really have to have the right pattern paper and I thought I had found the perfect paper for raw chipboard, but also for the book photo.

ScrapLounge March Layouts

This month for the month of March on the scraplounge we are doing a sketch, which is my layout below. The kit this month is provided by the wonderful Fancy that scrapbooking I received the Kaisercraft 'on the move' range. I really love Kaisercraft and all the embellishments that go with the range.

This is my technique layout, the technique for this month is stamping and printing. I decided to paint my background of my craft paper then stamp with the Kaisercraft bubble wrap stamp. I also read in the Scrapbooking Memories magazing how you can use masking tape to print on, so I decided to give it a go and print on the masking tape. It is really easy, the most difficult part is to make sure you don't have your edges of your masking tape where it prints on. All you have to do is type what you want, print it out on your printer, then put sticky tape (the large tape is the best) over the printing then stick the masking tape on top of the clear tape, this allows you to easily remove the masking tape from the paper. Then thread it back through the printer. Just make sure you know which side your paper faces to be printed on. I love it, just a bit of a different element on your page.

Well I am off this weekend to do some scrapping at my friends place, can't wait. We both won't have children just a nice little scrapbooking weekend, so I am hoping I will come home with lots of new layouts to share.

A Christmas layout

Oh oh, I found a heap of layouts that I haven't shown on my blog, so I thought it is time to keep updating you with some of the layouts I have been doing. I must admit I did go through a stage of not doing any scrapping, not because of the lack of wanting, but just not being able to get any time to do any. But I have my scrapping mojo on and have certainly got back into it. I am a massive fan of the bunting, they just seem to fill a spot. I also love the bingo cards, I found from a shop, which I generally shop on facebook on Flog it Friday's, Mad about Scrappin these massive Bingo cards, they are just so cute, not sure what I am going to do with them yet, but love them and I am sure they will come in very handy in my next few layouts.

Well I hope you all have a great Monday. Fingers crossed I get all my house work done and can sneak in a layout.......Untill next time.

Scraplounge CyberCrop

Well it is that time again, this weekend the scraplounge had it's awesome cybercrop. I love seeing what people come up with, when they are given the same criteria and sketch. Love how everyone interprets things so very differently.

The first challenge was to have 3 hearts on a layout and the word relationships, so this is what I came up with. I had so much fun doing this layout, as I am getting into the mists so I had a bit of a play with that, not that you can see much of it. I also adore this paper range, I just love it when paper designers have the papers that just seem to go.

This is the second challenge for the Cybercrop, it is to do a layout using song lyrics for a title. My niece had come up and stayed with me for a few days and to thank me she bought me these gorgeous flowers. so my title was 'you don't bring me flowers anymore' but in brackets I wrote but my niece does. I was having a bit of a dig at my husband, though surprisingly after my niece bought this it must have played on my hubby's mind because he did buy me some flowers. So might have to do a few more layouts like this in the future. LOL

This is the sketch for the Scraplounge Cybercrop. I created this sketch, my first attempt to do it on the computer, so I will apologise for it not being perfect. But honestly I don't think I did to bad

This is my layout that I came up with, with the sketch. I kept this layout a bit simple, but loved using a few mini prints, having lots of photos on a layout isn't my strong point, but I love it when I do do one and pull it off. This layout has photos of when we were in Perth down at Hillary's. The boys had a ball playing in the water there, We were there forever, hours and hours. I must admit I enjoyed watching the boys play and having some piece and quiet, plus loads of photo opportunities.

Mad about Scrappin challenge

Well I certainly have my mojo on at the moment, I have already done Mad About Scrappins Challenge for this month. I LOVE this challenge, you have to use a pattern paper as your backing, strips of paper and a one word title. I thought this challenge is definitely one of my favourites. I really loved how this layout turned out, I am really enjoying doing minimilistic layouts, and I love using just a 6x4.
This photo was of Cody when we were in Perth, it was a warm day and he was sitting at a bench screwing up his cute little face. He is just so adorable. I can't believe he is 3. They just grow up way to fast.

It has been to long.....

Wow I can't believe it has been so long since I have written on here. It has been crazy with the kids on school holidays and we all know what it is like leading up to Christmas, a bit of a night mare. Well I have managed to find time to scrap, thanks to some of my awesome friends which help me make an excuse. So I thought I would share some of the layouts I have done.

I really love this layout 'playing is awesome' I love the colours in it, I just kept the layout simple.
I so struggle to fine decent boy paper especially now that my eldest son is 13 years of age. But when I found this paper I thought it couldn't be any better. Loved it. I also love using the gorgeous purple pumpkin embellishments. Just so love that Purple Pumpkin has thought about the 'boy' for embellishments and not just pretty things for girls.
This is one of my favourite layouts of my son who tragically died after only living for 28 hours. So every photo I have of him is just so precious to me, so I adore scrapping his photos, and I am extremely fussy of the papers I use with his photos.
Love this layout, just a bit different. I love these colours being rustic but bright. My younger son Cody loves playing in the sandpit, he loves it more when his bigger brother jumps in with him and plays to.
